Welcome to the Career Services Office of the NYU Department of Journalism. Our student body is large and growing, with more than 120 grad students and more than 600 undergrads. Of the total group, 25 percent are minority and 75 percent are women. NYU journalism students are eager and ready to go to work for you.

Posting Your Job Opening

We publish new job listings on our Web site every week, at NYU J-Jobs. Postings stay up for 30 days. We also send frequent e-mail bulletins of new job openings to our alumni and soon-to-graduate students.

If you have an internship or part-time job to fill, we'll post your notice in Recent Intern Requests and on the Career Services bulletin board in the journalism building. We keep internship listings up for six months, unless you ask us to remove yours sooner.

Please note: Do not post advertising, public relations, marketing or media relations/communications jobs on this site. They will not be forwarded to our students. Instead, submit your listing to NYU's Wasserman Center for Career Development. That way your listing will be available to the entire NYU student body.

TO POST A JOB OR INTERNSHIP, please fill out our Job Posting Form.

Credit Internship Program

Students who have completed most of their journalism coursework may do one internship for credit through the NYU journalism department. The department gives credit for editorial internships only—no PR, advertising or marketing jobs. Credit interns must work at least 12 hours a week; they may intern during the fall, spring or summer semester. Students send regular reports to the director of Career Services, and they also write an internship review for future interns to read. Midway through the semester the employer receives an evaluation form to assess the credit intern's performance—that's the only paperwork we'll ask of you.

New York University Journalism Career Fair

The department's Career Fair is Saturday, March 31, 2007, 10 a.m-5 p.m. There is no registration fee, but we do encourage you to reserve your space early and no later than Wednesday, March 21st.
