		<description>Is the ethics pledge primarily to indemnify the department  from wayward students, so it can say it did its part?  I can&#039;t imagine most students would read through this material before signing the pledge - I certainly didn&#039;t.  And if someone was going to plagiarize, would this pledge really make a difference?</description>
