Anissa Smith has been practicing graphic design as an Art director and Designer for twelve years. Anissa's constant exploration of design and how it inspires us, is an ever-evolving discovery of design theory and its applications.
Anissa's strong foundation in editorial design, noted by her contributions to many prominent magazine companies such as Conde and Nast, Essence, Hearst, Time Inc. and Meredith Corporation has been saught after for her focus and design clarity. Anissa has also lent her expertise to collaborations with design professionals to create the successful launch of MORE Magazine and the 2000 redesign of Parenting Magazine.
Pushing the boundaries of creativity in new directions since graduating in 1991 with a BFA in Design Graphics, Anissa has also taken courses at Fashion Institute of Technology and the New York School of Interior Design. Since then Anissa has been presented with many design opportunities ranging from broadcast designer for print at Thirteen WNET to interior designer, and currently at Cole Haan's Image Design department.
Currently, Anissa is a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) New York chapter, and she looks for inspiration in illustration, vintage patterns, pottery and typography.
