As an adjunct professor in the Journalism Department as well as in the Department of Culture and Communication at NYU, William Phillips has a background in both academia and media production. A former staffer at Time Inc. and Parenting Magazine, he has been involved in independent film production via the Brooklyn-based film collective Simulacra Productions, and is a composer/performer/producer with the children's music group, the Dirty Sock Funtime Band featured on Nickelodeon, Noggin, and Fox television. He is currently working on a Ph.D. studying the impact of digital technology on music production.
