Posted 03.16.04 Radha Mitchell By Marjory Garrison Age: 31 Location: New York, NY Breakthrough moment: As a good girl seduced by bad girl Ally Sheedy in the 1998 drama High Art, Mitchell's first American film. Why to watch: Last year, the Australian actress caught the attention of Woody Allen, who cast her in his as-yet-untitled fall 2004 project. This year, she'll catch everyone else's when she appears alongside Denzel Washington in the action flick Man on Fire and as the wife of Peter Pan's creator in J.M. Barrie's Neverland. Why she thinks it'd be easy to hold up a bank in Mexico City: While on location for Man on Fire, Mitchell's bulletproof ride was carjacked. Luckily, the actress was on set and not in the backseat. "I don't think they even knew it was bulletproof," she says. "But they could rob a bank with that thing." Why she had more fun than you in high school: "I would hate to go to high school here," says Mitchell. "There's so much pressure to be a sex bomb if you're a girl and a cool, tough guy if you're a boy." Why "the fish" is her favorite yoga position: "You lie on your back, put your hands under your butt, and rest your body on your elbows. It opens up your heart." "WOORKING WITH WOODY ALLEN, YOU REALLY ARE WORKING WITH WOODY ALLEN THE CHARACTER," says Mitchell. |
