Anju Mary Paul, who has a master’s in journalism from New York University, is a freelance cultural reporter. She was born in India, and has lived in Scotland, Saudi Arabia and Singapore. She will begin studying for a doctorate in sociology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in September 2006.
