Ali Alnaemi is a graduate journalism student at NYU specializing in national reporting. Alnaemi was born in Baghdad, Iraq, and completed his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Baghdad. Alnaemi worked as a freelance reporter for the BBC and Voices of America in Iraq, and from 2004-2007 worked as the newsroom manager for the New York Times bureau in Baghdad. In 2007, before beginning studies at NYU, Alnaemi was awarded a fellowship for mid-career journalists by the University of Michigan. Alnaemi’s main interests include politics and reporting on issues that affect minorities in the U.S.
