10,000 Stolen Tunes Inside*
It's my iPod and I'll engrave it if I want to.

As you may have heard, Apple is offering custom laser engraving for iPods. This service is free between March 28, 2004 and June 26, 2004 with an iPod purchase. Apparently, Apple is not making these iPods as personalized as some would like them to be. Some of the messages customers have submitted for engraving have been rejected by Apple for "editorial" reasons.

What's the point of deciding what can be engraved on someone's iPod? It is completely unclear why Apple would not want these messages engraved on an iPod: With my iPod, I'm guilty of the crime of having too much iFun!!!, My iPod can beat up your honor roll student, Your mamma uses a walkman, WARNING: Contains Yanni Box Set, Musically Disturbed.

Why the hell wouldn't Apply engrave those messages? What's next? Are they going to tap into our iPods and decide which songs we can and can't have in them.

It's my iPod and I'll engrave it if I want to. So, Apple, Lick My Shiny Metal Ass!*

*Another great message rejected by the iPD (iPod Police Department).
