I am a freelance writer who has written about science-related topics for Scientific American, Discover and Popular Mechanics. I am lactose intolerant, and the condition has puzzled and plagued me for years now. I wanted to find out better ways to live with this digestive disorder that affects about one out of six Americans. To do so, I took a "listicle" approach and found 10 ways to keep the gastrointestinal distress that dairy brings on at bay.
