STORY: Will the trustafarian farmers of today weather the recession?

Author Bio

From a farm in Kentucky's bluegrass to Manhattan's jungle, I've always been interested in both writing and food. In high school, I worked at a catering company. At college, I wrote for the school newspaper and stared a wine and cheese club. I covered the “food” beat while studying journalism at NYU, reporting on farmers, the food industry, chefs, and restaurants. Internships at Saveur and Gourmet have helped hone my writing and editing skills. I've followed the burgeoning small farming movement skeptically, yet hopefully. To what degree will the recession affect these independent farmers? Read my article and you’ll know.
