Sonal Chawla is a graduate student at New York University, focusing on News and Documentary. Born in Jamshedpur, a city in Eastern India, she has been very interested in the field of communications since early on. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Delhi in 2002. After a brief stint in advertising with Grey Worldwide, she worked with CNBC in New Delhi for close to two years as an Assistant Producer and Correspondent, before moving to the U.S. in 2006. Recently, she also received an award from the 'National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' for an independent documentary - a keystone project of her program at NYU, on outsourcing to call centers in India.
