I came to New York from Iraq to pursue a master’s degree in journalism. My previous education includes degrees in engineering and translation from universities in Iraq. In 2004, I worked with Iraq Memory Foundation, an American NGO digitizing documents of the former Iraqi regime. I was a reporter for the New York Times in Baghdad from 2005 to 2007. Then, I came to New York University as a Fulbright Scholar.
