On his first visit to New York City, Pope Benedict XVI greeted spectators, who had waited to catch a glimpse of him for more than seven hours along Fifth Ave. on Saturday. After holding a mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral that marked his third anniversary as the head of the Roman Catholic Church, the pope rode in a white Mercedes-Benz Popemobile, which some described as a “cocoon” and a “space-bubble.”
