The Dead Tree's Summer

Apparently, Murdoch feels the pain of a transitional period --he's trying hard to steer his newspaper empire toward the online world. The migration hasn't tuned out as great as he expected. Websites of News Corp's British titles The Times and The Sun are not reaping as much money as Murdoch wanted. Which is why the media mogul has called his top news executives to his California ranch for a three day closed door meeting to churn out a "survival plan." "All the enws divisions will discuss where they are, what they are going to do, and where they want to get to." one of the executives was quoted as saying. Sounds like a make a break moment.

Indeed newspapers are having a chilly spring this year. The New York Times are having trouble with its share holders, failing to meet their revenue expectations and coming up with a satisfactory strategy for the future. The big newspapers are suffering. The smaller newspapers are not doing any better.
A dead tree won't come alive even when the summer is coming.
