It is being reported on ESPN.com that the Buffalo Bills, of New York, are interested in expanding their market share. They want to play preseason games and a regular season games in Toronto. They are near Canada so I suppose it makes sense. But how is the NFL's expansion working?
The NFL is playing a regular season game in London, the Niners played in Mexico City and there were quickly dismissed rumors that the super bowl would be played in London. Additionally, a game in China involving the Patriots inevitable.
I wonder if other continents look at American football the way America looks at European football.
The NFL wants to expand its brand. It looks at how successful it is in the US, it thinks it has a great product, but will it ultimately lead to financial payoffs?
It's hard to say, but the World league collapsed, and American fans are already grumbling about their team playing overseas.
Football could potentially being doing itself a disservice by expanding its horizons, but there is only one place to grow, so I guess they have to do what they have to do.
