CNN says A-Rod a $300 Million Bargain

While looking into what Rupert Murdoch plans on doing with the Wall Street Journal, a link on the side caught my eye. It read, "A-Rod: A bargain at $300 million"

All signs seem to say Alex Rodriguez will make his money, even if I don't think it's a great idea.

At the top Isadore says the most logical thing:

Even if you don't believe all of Boras' arguments about the economic benefits of lavishing money on his top client (and I don't), the changes in the market for players' salaries, and the improvement in the game's overall economic outlook, means it makes sense to sign the game's most productive player, even at top dollar.

Then spends the rest of the time trying to justify all the silly extra ideas floating around--television, new stadium, ticket sales, etc.

He focuses mainly on the Yankees, until the very end when he mentions the Marlins, which is crazy talk.

As he points out the Marlins would have to pay A-Rod as much as they spend on the whole team which I'd say is unlikely.

The Marlins are perfectly happy to continue penny-pinching, playing in a terrible stadium while remaining the leagues most profitable team according to Forbes, thanks to baseball's counterproductive revenue sharing scheme's effect on competition.
