Ron Paul, the Republican presidential hopeful, apparently has some followers in the fairy tale world. According to the latest third quarter campaign finance report, Mr. Paul received $2300, the maximum amount of individual contribution, from a wizard.
Like Mr. Paul, other candidates are accepting money from individuals with strange jobs – break dancer, storyteller and runner, to name just a few, according to the Federal Election Commission reports.
If anything, this helped Mr. Paul to avoid the kind of embarrassment Senator Hillary has suffered. Ms. Clinton has been forced over the past two months to donate two blocks of contributions to charities. The reason: the money came either from people with criminal records or from businessmen who refused to appear on court for potential misuse of fund.
It would be much harder, however, to trace where the wizard who supported Mr. Paul lived and her real identity.
But we should also notice that not everyone is intentionally joking on his identity when making the contribution. Some donors, however, is indeed finding it challenging to draw up a proper title to describe what they do.
Kristina Kiehl, of Hillsborough, Calif., who listed her occupation as "feminist" when she contributed $1,000 to re-elect Rep. Jerry McNerney. In past election cycles, she has given money to candidates as a "feminist troublemaker" and the more common "housewife.
Compared to Norman Hisu, one of Hillary's biggest donors who later got arrested for fabrication of financial statements, Ms. Kiehl appears a much better fundraiser candidates should try to approach.
