Can We All Get On the Same Page?

If anybody was trying to get home today around 5:00, then they understand the level of chaos around the West 4th station. It truly was a mistake for me to attempt to get the train from there today. When I finally got to the station it was blocked off in preparation for the Halloween parade. Therefore, people were being rerouted to all over the place. Let's just mention that crowds were already starting to cluster down West 4th and people were moving like a herd of cattle.

This was not only inconvenient, but a true pain. I figured that if I asked a cop that he would be able to direct me to the nearest station. That was a major chore. I asked one cop and he pointed me in a direction further away from where I wanted to be. He said, "Just keep straight ahead and you will see the next station." I was then walking towards Bleeker and had seen no subway station in sight. I decided to stop another two cops and they informed me to go back towards from whence I came. One said, "There has got to be a station open from where you walked from." I told that cop that another cop sent me in the opposite direction and he of course sent me back that way. I get to a station, but it is blocked off and that cop reroutes folks to another West 4th station. By now, I feel like I have been going in circles and just want to get the heck home. I ask another cop for assistance and he justs gives me the silent treatment and points towards Waverly Place. I finally just file in line with the crowd and finally get to another West 4th station that is open. I believe it was the only one that was open. One cop remarked as he exited the station, "Wow, look at all this mayhem!"

It was completely crazy that I had to ask a handful of cops the same question and got varying degrees of information. After all it was someone's bright idea to close certain station entrances and funnel everyone through one entrance. It would be helpful if everyone was working with the same information and dispersed it accurately. Why add to the mayhem by completely being clueless about what is going on?
