And the Emmy Goes to… (Hollywood Reporter)
Andrea Romero, chief meteorologist at WNJU Telemundo 47, won a New York Emmy for Best On-Air Talent in the Weather Anchor category. The award ceremony will be broadcast on Wednesday, April 15 at 9 p.m. on NYC TV.

Is Miley Cyrus next on the paparazzi’s list? (Radar)
That was one of the questions pondered at “The Britney Show,” a panel discussion hosted by NYU Journalism that featured gossip hounds Bonnie Fuller and Richard Johnson. Read more about the event on the Huffington Post.

I.F. Stone at 100 (Village Voice)
Earlier this month, NYU Journalism hosted an event in honor of the 100th birthday of I.F. Stone, the iconoclastic journalist who, according to panelists, may have been the first blogger.

Anna Holmes (‘95) discusses her experiences as editor of Jezebel.com, a girly gossip website that Gawker Media launched last May.

In Memoriam (Star-Ledger)
John Van de Water, a garden writer for the Star-Ledger for 32 years, died last week. He studied journalism at NYU before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1943.

She’s Got Heart (New York Lawyer)
Natalie Holder-Winfield, an alumna who went on to graduate from Tulane University’s School of Law, recently put on a fashion show aimed at raising heart disease awareness.

Hats Off!
Alumna Gabriela Reardon (‘07)), who won the Prevention for Safer Society Award from the National Council on Crime and Delinquency for her story A Long Walk from Honduras to Escape Gang Violence, which appeared in City Limits last year.

News Producer, CBSNews.com, New York City
CBSNews.com seeks a night-shift news producer. This is a full-time, staff position. Candidates should have two or more years of news experience. (A print, wire service or TV background is fine.) The job involves building national and foreign news stories, as well as running the CBS News website 3-5 hours per night. There is also some opportunity for original reporting and writing. Online News Producer/Reporter, Huffington Post, NYC or Virtual
The Huffington Post’s citizen-powered presidential campaign news site, OffTheBus, is looking for an experienced journalist to join our small team as an online news producer/reporter. The position requires working closely with our contributors on campaign-related stories between now and the November election. Day to day responsibilities include managing our team of citizen correspondents and editing their coverage; conducting outreach to bloggers and news sites; and planning coverage in advance of key events. OffTheBus also conducts distributed journalism projects, and the online news producer/reporter will be responsible for culling through information, helping to report the stories, on occasion leading that reporting and building out the story narratives on a project blog. This is a position rich with potential and opportunity for someone who’s organized and detail oriented, proactive and sociable. While online community experience and technological savvy are great additions, they’re not requirements for the job. The position does require some demonstrable experience in political reporting as well as an understanding of and passion for the generation of news, especially in a New Media environment. Associate Web Editor, Zagat Survey, New York City
Zagat Survey is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented individual to join our online content team as Associate Web Editor. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of editorial experience (preferably web content), excellent writing/editing skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Job responsibilities include: Editing weekly batches of reviews and posting to Web; managing the relationship with regional editors; contributing to other Web content needs – editing/writing/posting news items and features; procuring and routing photos; contributing topics to forums, etc., and assisting the senior web editor with managing schedules, deadlines and workflow. Primary qualifications: Minimum 5 years’ editorial experience, preferably Web content; bachelor’s degree (English & journalism majors, a plus; excellent writing and editing skills, efficient and well organized, with meticulous attention to detail; experience with HTML. Pray the Devil Back to Hell, a feature-length documentary co-produced by Broadcast alumna Johanna Hamilton, is premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 24. The film, which celebrates the courageous women of Liberia, will screen five times during the festival.

Alex Schwartz has been named head of development at DreamWorks Animation in Glendale, California.

Shaya Tayefe Mohajer (‘04) is joining the Los Angeles bureau of the Associated Press as the new health and wellness reporter. Previously, she covered education and poverty in West Virginia for the wire.

Barrington Lopez, who has a law degree from Rutgers University, is now general counsel of the Midwest Area for Verizon Wireless.
