Abasing Anna

Is there no decency anymore?

In the minutes after Anna Nicole Smith’s death, internet users had begun to deface her Wikipedia site and the man behind Perez Hilton was still using his typical white font to comment on her picture.

Here are the comments thanks to Gawker.

Blogging is great because it gives everyone the chance to write as freely as they want, but there’s a line and I think it was crossed in this situation. To defame a person right after their death by writing things like Nip/Tuck across their pictures just goes beyond human decency.

I mean sure, she was huge for celebrity gossip and didn’t exactly live a quiet life, but doesn’t everyone deserve the same respect? It’s just….is this really necessary?

Yeah, it's necessary. It's a high-profile story that is filled with scandal, larger-than-life characters and mysterous deaths.

And if you doubt it being neccessary, I just give you the finest story of the year: crazy homicidal astronaut in diapers.
