TiVo Mobile, a new service from Verizon, allows users to set what to record at home from their cell phones for just $1.99 per month. The menu screen is nearly the same as the menu at home, making it easy to navigate. It also customizes recommendations for the user and has a handy feature to tell you which shows are the most popular.
I think this is a great idea. There’s always stuff that I want to record but forget to set before going out. With TiVo Mobile, you can just set it whenever you remember rather than having to actually be at home to do this. It would also be useful for those times when you thought you’d be home in time for something but get held up somewhere. Sign me up!

Tivo Series 3 lets you program it from the intertubes, no cell phone required. For free.
