Rosie O'Donnell Denies 9/11 on "The View"

On ABC's "The View" Thursday morning, Rosie O'Donnell coughed up this noxious five minutes of television. In it, she denies the self-evident facts of 9/11, claiming that building 7 of the World Trade Center was destroyed via controlled demolition. Her reasoning is years old, however, as she argues that the building must have been demolished with explosives as mere building fires do not burn at a high enough temperature to melt steel. She forgets, of course, that steel need not melt to lose structural integrity and fail.

Fast forward to 4:00 minutes into the clip for the 9/11 denying, though the entire thing is worth a watch.

I don't know where to begin with this. It is pathetic. ABC should be ashamed of itself, and take steps to remove Rosie O'Donnell from "The View" and perhaps take the show off the air entirely. I have never before in my life seen such disgusting television, from O'Donnell's nonsensical arguments regarding how Iran must be in the right vis a vis the current hostage situation, to her stomach turning ignorance regarding the World Trade Center attacks, to the crowd's reaction.

Like it or not, Rosie O'Donnell is a so-called "opinion leader" in this American media culture. She owes her country and her audience more than this.

UPDATE: Popular Mechanics continues to do the great public service of debunking crazies like O'Donell. The magazine takes on her comments here

I don't even know what to say....where is the media coverage on THIS clip? There are so many flawed arguments in this entire clip that it is difficult to debunk them--because they are simply stupid and demonstrates her ignorance on history and foreign affairs. It also shows how she will do ANYTHING to make sure that the Bush Administration and our government in general is blamed for every last crisis in the world, when in fact she should be thanking her lucky stars that she lives in a country that allows her to flap her trap the way that she does...so inflamatory and filled with hate.

What's funny is that she says to look outside of the US to find out what is going on here in America. It's kind of ironic seeing as she is being aired on AMERICAN television and seems to be a know-it-all when it comes to media and our foreing policy. Why don't you go and host a talk show in Iran or Syria Rosie. Will that make you happy? Let's see how long you will last in countries that do not have the freedoms we share in the United States thanks to our government who is willing to stand up and fight for those freedoms.
