TV Land To Produce Its Own Retro Shows

Do you remember the days when TV Land actually showed decent TV shows? Well, I do. And when I say good, I mean shows that stem from generations far before my own and yet are still relevant and entertaining. They are classics.

Mary Tyler Moore, I Love Lucy, Bewitched, The Munsters—when did all of these get replaced with cheesy 90s shows like Full House and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? I assume that they were trying to target a newer, younger audience. Or maybe they were just stupid.

Now TV Land is in the business of making TV shows, not just airing them. Attempting to cater to the Baby Boomer generation (after all, that’s a lot of people), TV Land will launch a series of original programming about Disc, 1960s high school reunions and other sad relics of the generation.

I see where TV Land is going with this. I admire their attempts to create new programming for a large market, but I think it will take a long time for anything like this to catch on and draw viewers. There is so much other original programming on TV these days, it’s going to take one heck of a show to put TV Land on the map.
