Emily Leibert
American Journalism Online 2021
A former entertainment publicist, Emily hadn’t written a single article before she was accepted into NYU’s AJO program. Now, she is a staff writer at Jezebel covering gender as it intersects with sport, mental health, and crypto. Primarily centered on stereotypically feminine sports such as cheerleading and dance, her work has appeared in Teen Vogue, Refinery29, NBC News, Bustle, Men’s Health, InsideHook, and more — much of which she was able to publish with the help of her AJO professors and mentors.
My professors and fellow students enabled me to embrace my voice (however weird or snarky), hone in on my niche, and keep swinging for the fences every damn day.”
