American Journalism Online 2025
Prior to pursuing my master’s degree at NYU AJO, I had just graduated from UC Irvine with a bachelor’s in criminology, working as a legal assistant and initially planning to attend law school. I remember feeling lost when considering that pathway and the midst of that, I rediscovered my love for storytelling and stumbled upon the NYU application form. I took the leap and applied, grateful for that decision.
Fast forward to this year: I just accepted a role as an adjunct professor of multimedia journalism at my former community college, where I will be teaching both on campus and at the California Institute for Men’s Prison through the Rising Scholars program. AJO helped me truly hone my passion for amplifying voices facing adversity as well as equipped me with the proper tools to be successful in this avenue. I am proud to represent NYU AJO as I continue blending and pursuing my backgrounds in criminology and journalism in academia
