IN RESPONSE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND,
We are offering an additional session of our two-part data journalism workshop – DATA CRUNCHING (9/28) and DATA VISUALIZATION (10/5). If you missed the first session, don’t miss your chance this time!

***THIS IS PART 1 of a two-part data journalism workshop.***

Register for Part 1: newnyudata1.eventbrite.com

Participants should register for Part 2, here: newnyudata2.eventbrite.com

Data Visualization Workshop

As numerical data becomes a more important part of the investigative process, we as journalists need a thorough understanding of where to get it and what it means. Whether you’re canvassing a data set for story ideas or smoking guns, Part I will develop your ability to clean data and process it enough to give up its secrets. This course is taught in Excel and will begin at a basic introductory level – no experience required.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Zoe Fraade-Blanar is an Interaction Designer and Data Artist. Her work has been used by outlets such as eBay, FINRA, The New York Times, The Hubble Space Telescope, The US Dept of Labor, The US Postal Service, and IBM.

Workshop is free for currently-enrolled NYU journalism students, registration is required.
NYU Journalism Alumni may attend for a $45 fee, registration required.

This workshop is closed to the public.

Sunday, September 28th | 12PM – 4PM | 20 Cooper Square, Room 654
