Jordan Brown, a standout student at New York University’s graduate school, has demonstrated exceptional dedication to honing her multimedia skills, a journey that began during her undergraduate years at Morgan State University. There, she made significant strides in journalism, writing for the college newspaper and eventually becoming the editor-in-chief of the Morgan State Spokesman. Her hard work and talent did not go unnoticed, earning her the prestigious title of NABJ Student Journalist of the Year in 2023.
With a passion for local news, especially in her hometown of the DMV area, Jordan also co-valedictorian, distinguished herself through her versatility in shooting videos, taking photos, and producing audio content.
Jordan’s relentless pursuit of excellence continued at NYU, where she found invaluable mentorship and opportunities, particularly through the Reporting the Nation program led by David Dent. Her persistence paid off when she finally secured a coveted internship at The Washington Post after three attempts. Reflecting on her first article being published, she described the experience as surreal, especially as the print edition coincided with her birthday. Jordan’s journey is a testament to her perseverance and the supportive academic environments at Morgan State and NYU, which have equipped her with the skills and confidence to excel in the competitive field of journalism. As the editor-in-chief of Pavement Pieces, the graduate school newspaper, she continues to make significant contributions, underscoring her commitment to impactful storytelling and multimedia journalism.
