Mia Macgregor
Reporting the Nation & New York
Mia Macgregor is an exceptional student currently in the Reporting the Nation and New York in Multimedia Program at New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, heading into her final semester this fall. With a strong foundation from her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Public Communications at Syracuse University, Mia honed her skills in front of the camera and as an entertainment host with Citrus TV, Syracuse’s student-led broadcast outlet.
Her passion for journalism, particularly in broadcast, led her to NYU where she has thrived in classes like podcast and audio reporting, as well as print reporting workshops under the guidance of esteemed professors like David Dent, the director of the Reporting the Nation program. She has also studied under James McBride, a best-selling author, and David Ushery, a broadcast TV professor and on-air talent for NBC New York.
Mia’s professional journey is equally impressive. She began her career with The Insurer, a small London-based startup, where she worked from New York City. Her efforts were pivotal during the period when Reuters acquired The Insurer to establish their own insurance division. Now fully integrated into Reuters, Mia continues to excel as a news reporter. She has a strong interest in cybersecurity stories, natural disaster coverage, and compelling human interest pieces. Mia appreciates the autonomy and freedom her role at Reuters provides, allowing her to select stories that captivate her interest. Her dedication and talent in covering these complex topics are evident in her published work, making her a standout in the field of journalism.
