Journalism and Society: Covering Race and Class in New York City

Prerequisites: Journalistic Inquiry: The Written Word JOUR-UA 101
In this class, students will explore issues relating to race, class and income inequality as reporters. The laboratory of exploration will be New York City. Students will go on journeys that bring them to cultural spaces and neighborhoods that highlight the issues related to race, ethnicity, immigrations and income in New York City. Students will work on a major longform reporting project that dives into this subject matter.
Notes: Counts as an elective for the journalism major and both journalism minors.
