Diversity Conference Attendance Grants
NYU Journalism is awarding multiple grants, up to $1000 each, to current NYU graduate and undergraduate students seeking to participate in conferences or educational programs outside NYU that explore the social, economic, or political challenges facing marginalized communities. Students may also use the funds to attend NABJ, NAHJ, or AAJA conferences. The grants are designed to cover conference fees and other conference-related expenses. Funds may be used for travel. International travel is subject to NYU’s Covid-19 travel policies.
Eligibility
Open to both NYU graduate and undergraduate journalism students. To be eligible to apply:
- Graduate students must be enrolled in an NYU Journalism masters program.
- Undergraduate students should be declared journalism majors or minors.

Application and Deadline
Please note there are TWO different deadlines and applications for NABJ,NAHJ, and AAJA conference grants and academic conference grants.
NABJ, NAHJ, AAJA Conference Option 1: For Spring 2024 NABJ, NAHJ, AAJA Conference Grants, students should submit an application by February 1, 2024. Students interested in submitting an application for NABJ, NAHJ, and AAJA conferences must submit a Submittable application here.
Academic Conferences (non NABJ, NAHJ, and AAJA) Option 2: For Spring 2024 Conference Grants (non-NABJ, NAHJ, AAJA conferences), students should submit an application by March 31, 2024. Please submit a Submittable application here.
All proposals should be submitted by 11:59 PM EST on the application deadline. You will be asked to submit a proposal with a budget, which will be judged by a faculty committee.
