We are proud to welcome Isabel Wilkerson, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Humanities Medal, and author of the critically acclaimed New York Times bestsellers The Warmth of Other Suns and Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.

Wilkerson will be recognized as the inaugural winner of the NYU/Axinn Foundation Prize.

She will be in conversation with Rachel Swarns of the Carter Journalism Institute. Prof. Swarns is a journalist, author and a contributing writer for The New York Times, whose research focuses on slavery and its contemporary legacies.

This event is part of the Carter Journalism’s Diversity and Inclusion Initiative’s “Big Read” program and sponsored by Carter Journalism, Office of Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Strategic Innovation, NYU Abu Dhabi, Women’s Leadership Forum, Silver School of Social Work, Center for the Humanities and Social and Cultural Analysis.
