Ari Schneider
American Journalism Online 2020
Two years out of undergrad, Ari had tried careers in three different fields and none of them felt like the right fit. He knew he had always wanted to be a writer, but never saw a path forward. Ari applied to NYU/AJO on a whim and after graduating, he’s been freelancing full time, writing award-winning features on a range of topics from athlete profiles to reported narratives about justice, technology, and more for publications including the New York Times, the Washington Post and Slate.
I can’t imagine where I’d be if I hadn’t applied to AJO. The program gave me an even deeper love for nonfiction writing, and it taught me how to turn this passion into a career. I’ve been so fortunate to travel across America and Europe for journalism. There’s rarely a boring moment, and I’m constantly learning new and fascinating things about the world.”
