Audra Heinrichs

American Journalism Online 2022

Prior to enrolling in the AJO program, Audra was a part-time political organizer and worked in corporate media. Since graduating in December 2020, she has amassed a considerable portfolio with bylines that include: Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Teen Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE.com, The Independent, and many more. Her reporting on abortion restriction in her home state of Ohio appeared on the front page of the Washington Post. She is currently a staff writer at Jezebel, covering the intersection of politics, culture and entertainment.

Quite frankly, I would not be where I am today without the tools given to me as a student in the AJO program. Though it was often taxing to balance the program and a full time job as a staffer on a presidential campaign, my professors never failed to give me grace and the confidence to trust my intuition and narrative voice. I would also be remiss not to mention the energy and shared passion of my peers that sustained me on a daily basis.”
