Bobby Brier
American Journalism Online 2022
Before enrolling in the AJO program, Bobby was a full-time law school student. When the pandemic hit in March 2020, he realized his true passion for writing and reporting and decided to pursue a career in journalism. While a student, he interned with New Mexico In Depth and won a Society of Professional Journalists Top of the Rockies Award for his political coverage of the Albuquerque mayor’s race. He is now a member of the Report for America Corps, working as a multimedia reporter for NJ Spotlight News covering mental health issues, especially affecting rural communities.
I would not be a corps member today without the support and guidance of my professors and fellow students in the AJO program. Their friendship, encouragement and commitment to journalism allowed me to build a fulfilling new career. From writing compelling leads to building sources, I use what I learned at AJO every day.”
