Carol Hymowitz is an award winning journalist and author who has served in leadership roles at The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and Bloomberg News. She is known for creating new content initiatives and for her reporting, writing and editing of stories about gender, economic inequality, aging, management, entrepreneurship and other topics.
Currently an independent journalist, she was a visiting scholar at Stanford University’s Stanford Center on Longevity from 2017 to 2021, reporting and writing about the longevity economy, older workers and ageism in the workforce. Previously, she was an editor at large at Bloomberg and a founder and editorial director of Forbes Woman magazine and website. Carol began her career at The Wall Street Journal, where she covered both coal miners and chief executives, popularized the term “the glass ceiling” in a front page story and wrote the weekly In The Lead management column. She is co-author of A History of Women in America and a contributor to Getting Older: How We’re Coping with the Gray Areas of Aging.
