France Costrel is a documentary director and producer. She’s developed, directed and produced unscripted series for global streaming services, such as Netflix, Showtime and CNN. Most recently, she created and directed the Netflix Original series High Score, a nostalgic tribute to the unsung heroes of the early gaming industry. Previously, she oversaw the Emmy-nominated short series 8-Bit Legacy and produced two seasons of the critically-acclaimed Showtime series Dark Net. From the web to video games, France enjoys turning visually challenging topics into cinematic storytelling. She brings her creativity to NYU and hopes to inspire her students to tell thought-provoking stories.
