Ian Parker is a staff writer at The New Yorker, for which he has profiled a range of cultural figures, including James Fenton, Sebastião Salgado, Christopher Hitchens, Elton John, Jonathan Ive, and J. K. Rowling. His writing for The New Yorker has won a National Magazine Award and a Mirror Award, and has appeared in The Best American Science Writing, The Best American Science and Nature Writing, and The Best American Magazine Writing. Previously, Parker was at Talk, where he was a contributing writer. Before joining Talk, he was the television critic for the London Observer and a writer and editor at the Independent.
