American Journalism Online 2023
I came into the American Journalism Online program with a background in astronomy and physics, wanting to study journalism and enter the science communications field. Ultimately my goal was to become a public information officer at an astronomy research institution. A major benefit of AJO was that I gained experience in journalism beyond just science writing. Long-form, investigative, multimedia, and so many other classes that AJO offers, gave me tools to later apply to my specific beat. Now, I’m a Jr. PIO at NOIRLab – a national astronomy research laboratory. And I certainly couldn’t have done it without the reporting, interviewing, storytelling, and producing skills I learned from AJO.
