IN RESPONSE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND,
We are offering an additional session of our two-part data journalism workshop – DATA CRUNCHING (9/28) and DATA VISUALIZATION (10/5). If you missed the first session, don’t miss your chance this time!
***THIS IS PART 2 of a two-part data journalism workshop, you must have taken Part 1 to register***
Participants should register for Part 1, here: newnyudata1.eventbrite.com
Data Visualization Workshop
The human brain isn’t set up to conceptualize numbers. But it is finely tuned to process visual images on a tiny scale. Part II concentrates on the theory, philosophy, and practice of displaying statistical information in visual form, both for the purpose of discovering hidden trends and anomalies, and to persuade an audience of your findings. Class is taught using a variety of web tools and API’s – no experience required.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Zoe Fraade-Blanar is an Interaction Designer and Data Artist. Her work has been used by outlets such as eBay, FINRA, The New York Times, The Hubble Space Telescope, The US Dept of Labor, The US Postal Service, and IBM.
Workshop is free for currently-enrolled NYU journalism students, registration is required.
NYU Journalism Alumni may attend for a $45 fee, registration required.
Registration: newnyudata2.eventbrite.com
This workshop is closed to the public.
