The “intimacy” of the audio medium is a central characteristic, and yet, not all podcasts use this quality to maximum effect. For the creators who delve into personal stories, how do they navigate the challenges to their relationships and their identity?
Matt Katz is an experienced reporter, who won a Peabody Award for his coverage of Chris Christie and the Bridgegate scandal. His new podcast series, Inconceivable Truth, took him way out of his comfort zone and into an intensely personal investigation. Ronald Young Jr. is an audio producer, storyteller, and host. His show Weight For It, a recent winner of three Podcast Academy Awards, aims to have “the conversations that we tend to avoid when it comes to our bodies.”
Moderator and NYU audio professor Sayre Quevedo (“The Quevedo’s”) will lead a discussion of the pitfalls and possibilities of personal storytelling in audio.
