Location: New York, NY
Hometown: San Jose, Costa Rica
Before Studio 20
I was a community educator on tenant and health rights at Childhood Lead Action Project in Providence, Rhode Island, and the founder and community manager of a Costa Rican citizen journalism site.
During Studio 20, I worked directly with…
The Guardian, Storyful, ProPublica, Solutions Journalism Network
Final Project Partner
ProPublica
Problem I helped solve…
I helped ProPublica design a network for community engagers called the Crowd-Powered News Network.
Why Studio 20
I found colleagues trying to solve the same issues as I was: to use technology to more effectively help news reach its ever expanding digital potential. While learning multimedia, project management and coding skills, I also learned how technology, business and editorial interact with each other. At Studio 20 we lived within that intersection, and I have become an interpreter and connector of these disparate parts to help build a more efficient and complete digital news ecosystem.
