Internships are an integral part of all of our graduate journalism concentrations and programs. Please consult with your program director or curriculum requirements to determine how many internship credits you need to graduate.

Credit internships must involve journalistic training under proper supervision in the editorial or production department of a news organization or digital outlet. They are an important way to practice editorial judgment and other skills you’re learning in your classes.

This section of Fieldwork in Journalism is taught by Sylvan Solloway Carrera and can be taken for 1-4 credits. More information about the course and how to register can be found here.

International students on an F1 visa will need CPT with this course.

BER and SHERP have their own internship courses.

We will communicate with you through Brightspace throughout the semester, and it is your responsibility to read your NYU emails and upload your assignments on time. Call or email us if you need to discuss any situations at your internship. We want to know as soon as possible, and help you navigate any on-the-job challenges.
