Here it’s all learning by doing. We’ll launch and operate our own publication to co-exist on social media, appraise various approaches to writing and publishing for the Vices and Buzzfeeds of the world, rely on social media to locate story ideas and market the ones we publish, study data journalism, critique the economics of today’s news environment, sift through business strategies, and deconstruct advertising as a revenue generator. We’ll explore virtual reality reporting, live tweeting, Storify, listicles and charticles, embedded video, mobile apps, link aggregation, media mashups, news algorithms and bots, crowdsourcing, instant messaging, chat, “hot takes,” multimedia explainers, and much, much more.
