When Science Goes to Court: Reporting on Science and the Law

An elective for students interested in journalism, science, or the law – or all three – this course will examine what happens when science and medicine intersect with judges and juries. Through readings, discussions with guest speakers practicing in the field, and writing assignments – including one designed to be published in a news outlet that covers these issues – students will gain an understanding of what role individual cases can play in establishing policy and norms.
