What I Do Now

I lead a four-person team to find and write articles that resonate with specific social audiences — and then integrate feedback from those audiences into our work. I also encourage the team to optimize their articles with multimedia, and experiment with new content types.

Before Studio 20

I studied journalism at the University of Georgia and worked as Recruitment Editor for The Red & Black student newspaper.

During Studio 20, I worked directly with…

ProPublica, CNN

Final Project Partner

CNN In America

Problem I helped solve…

Journalists are so busy chasing stories, they don’t take time to listen to the feedback or expertise of the people that can help them the most: their readers. I created a list of best practices to help journalists better interact with and understand their audiences on social media, specifically Twitter.

Professional hops since graduating…

I previously worked as Managing Editor at Olympia Media Group, Community Editor at HuffPost, and Audience Development Associate at Forbes Media. All jobs required me to work closely with large groups of contributors to create content, gain valuable insights, and facilitate conversations between bloggers and the newsroom.

Why Studio 20

The Internet enhances everything great and worthwhile about journalism. It provides new ways for newsrooms to connect with readers, tell interesting stories, and inspire communities to act. This program was one of the only programs I found that combined the best of the Internet with the best of journalism in a way that was innovative, practical and effective.
