Students will produce a live newscast that is streamed each week. The newscast is called NYU Now. Students rotate editorial and production roles each week throughout the semester. Those roles include executive producer, director, writer, reporter, and anchor. The class operates just like a real newsroom, except that the news team shifts responsibilities each week throughout the semester. Particular focus is given to writing, video editing, structuring a newscast, on-camera presentation skills, collaboration, communication, and working against a deadline. Content includes daily news, sports, entertainment, health, politics, and analysis. The class integrates social media and other emerging tools each week. NOTE: The midterm elections take place on Tuesday, November 3, so the class will produce a “NYU NOW ELECTION SPECIAL” with live reporter remotes and analysis.

Notes: Counts as an elective for the journalism major and both journalism minors.
