Congratulations to three News & Documentary graduate students who received NYU Journalism awards, 2022

Serge Kharytonau received the Zenith and Sidney Gross Memorial Prize for his investigation of the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus, and following a group of new exiles led by the winning candidate who use their network to help Ukrainians fight the war with Russia.

Shuhao Tse was awarded the Marlene Sanders Award for her documentary, about the kidnapping of children in China. Tang’s son was stolen when the child was 3. 12 years later, the Chinese police found him but that joy was trapped by a new reality.

Adam Santovac was awarded the Edwin Diamond Award, presented to a student that exhibits academic excellence and a devotion to the craft of journalism that exemplifies the energy, enthusiasm, and skill of pioneering journalist and media critic, Edwin Diamond. Adam’s documentary covers the election of the first openly gay prime minister in conservative Serbia.
