NewsDoc Alum Giorgio Ghiotto’s Film “Wings of Dust” Shortlisted for the 96th Academy Awards
"Wings of Dust" will compete with 14 other films for a nomination in the "Documentary Short Film" category. Nominations will be announced next month.
NewsDoc Graduates Giorgio Ghiotto and Lyuwei Chen Take Home Two Student Academy Awards
Both alumni won in the documentary category. NewsDoc students and alumni have now won 10 Student Academy Awards in total.

Celebrated documentary filmmaker Nanfu Wang will join the faculty at NYU’s Journalism Institute starting Fall 2023
Wang has won the MacArthur Genius Grant, two Peabody Awards, a George Polk Award, and was shortlisted for three Academy Awards. She will teach courses, including a new one on Reporting in Closed Societies, and advise graduate students as a Distinguished Writer In Residence.
